Developed to measure runaway reaction data under adiabatic conditions in a vessel with a very low thermal inertia, this apparatus can be used to predict the vapor-liquid disengagement regime and viscous vs. turbulent pipe flow behavior, and offer methods useful for sizing emergency relief devices without a comprehensive computer program.
