ioMosaic to Release Web-based Reactivity Expert Program
June 21, 2004. Salem, New Hampshire: ioMosaic President Dr.
Georges A. Melhem announced today that ioMosaic will release its comprehensive
Web-based Reactivity Expert Program (WREP) later this year.
Incorporating the Reactivity Hazard Evaluation Package from ioMosaic's industry
standard emergency relief system (ERS) design solution, SuperChems™, the first
release of WREP will:
-
Instantaneously generate the Binary Interaction Matrix for a mixture
-
Utilize reactivity interactions of common Materials of Construction
-
Provide Threshold Quantities (TQs) from OSHA, EPA, and TCPA lists of reactive
chemicals
-
Display toxicity values (ERPG and TLV) if available
-
Rank reactivity hazards of pure chemicals and mixtures based on Melhem Index
-
Tag chemicals as peroxide former, pyrophoric, water reactive based on
functional groups
-
Provide DSC database of more than 500 chemicals
“For many years now, the AIChE has demonstrated sustained leadership in safety
and risk management through the Center for Chemical Process Safety” ,
said Dr. Melhem. “The Board's decision to induct the RMR as a member
organization highlights the importance of understanding and managing chemical
reactivity hazards and will no doubt encourage wider participation throughout
the process industries.”
“Generating an interaction matrix is a highly time consuming task”, said Dr.
Melhem. “WREP's powerful functionality is able to consolidate toxicity and
reactivity information to generate an interaction matrix with a few mouse
clicks, making it highly efficient to perform reactive hazard evaluations.”
