Tyco and ioMosaic Announce Design-to-Procurement of Pressure Relief Devices
March 31, 2004, Salem, New Hampshire: ioMosaic Corporation
President Dr. Georges A. Melhem announced today that Tyco and ioMosaic have
executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop the industry's first
solution for design-to-procurement of pressure relief devices™.
Under the terms of the MOU, software development teams from Tyco and ioMosaic
will integrate ioMosaic's leading emergency relief system (ERS) design and
workflow automation solutions, SuperChems and ioXpress, with Tyco's product
data. Operating companies and engineering firms would be able to design
a pressure relief device and rely on the integrated solution's intelligence to select
the most appropriate device based on key parameters such as set point,
relieving rate, service / relieving conditions, backpressure considerations,
etc. This data would then be seamlessly transmitted to the relevant enterprise
resource planning (ERP) or procurement system for either order placement
or generating vendor inquiries for competitive sourcing.
“Design-to-procurement is a truly remarkable concept that can help operating
companies and engineering firms realize tremendous efficiencies”, said Mr.
Chris Buxton, Applications and Technology Manager at Tyco. He further added
“ioMosaic's industry leadership in pressure relief system design methodologies
and solutions makes them an obvious choice as a technology partner to help
realize this vision.”
Dr. Melhem adds, “Tyco has for years maintained an undisputed leadership in
pressure relief valve design and research as is evidenced by the breadth of
their brands, products, and global client base. As we developed the Design-to-Procurement
of Pressure Relief Devices vision in our organization, we wanted to
align ourselves with the most innovative and resourceful manufacturer – and
clearly that was Tyco.”
Tyco and ioMosaic expect to launch a pilot program at a major operating company
in the near future.
