Combustible Dust - the Basics

This workshop will introduce the methods of:

  • Identifying
  • Quantifying
  • Protecting against, and
  • Mitigating combustible dust hazards

We begin with a review of industrial incidents, then summarize current regulatory action, explain the methods for identifying and characterizing combustible dust properties - overviews possible protections to avoid and mitigations to reduce the effects of combustible dust explosions and flash fires.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is best suited and intended for safety, facility, supervisory and engineering personnel tasked with the responsibility of protecting against combustible dust hazards. The attendee will leave with an understanding of current standards and regulations, the types of characterization tests available - which ones are appropriate for their particular application, and a list of potential protections and mitigations to reduce the potential hazard from combustible dust explosions and flash fires.
