The main purpose of a Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) is to evaluate the risk levels of a process due to potential Loss of Containment scenarios (LOCs). A QRA can be used to optimize the risk reduction measures to be implemented to comply with a given tolerable risk criteria. Moreover, the analysis of detailed QRA results is the basis for more specific studies for facility and critical equipment siting, and domino effects analysis due to thermal radiation of fires.
In this newsletter, Neil Prophet outlines an effective three-step risk-based fire assessment approach for domino effects/escalation analysis as well as accurate decision-making. Topics to be discussed include:
The proposed methodology allows for analysis of the location and associated impacts on safety critical equipment, occupied buildings, and/or key structures in the Chemical Process Industry.
Have a great and safe day.
