Their credentials include doctoral degrees, expert testimony experience, international experience, software development leadership and emergency relief system evaluation proficiency for major oil, gas and petrochemical manufacturers worldwide. So we not only see the big picture, but have the capabilities and industry knowledge to determine what you need to reduce episodic risk, improve efficiency and maintain compliance.

Georges A. Melhem

President & CEO

Prior to founding ioMosaic Corporation, Georges A. Melhem was president of Pyxsys Corporation, a technology subsidiary of Arthur D. Little Inc. Before Pyxsys and during his 12 years tenure at Arthur D. Little, Dr. Melhem was a vice president and managing director of the company’s Global Safety and Risk Management Practice and its Process Safety and Reaction Engineering Laboratory.

Dr. Melhem is an internationally known pressure relief design, chemical reaction systems, and fire and explosion dynamics expert. In this regard, he has provided consulting and design services, expert testimony and incident investigation support, and reconstruction for a large number of clients.

Dr. Melhem holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering, as well as a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Industrial Engineering, all from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. In addition, he has completed executive training in the areas of Finance and Strategic Sales Management at the Harvard Business School.

Henry Ozog

General Partner

Prior to joining ioMosaic Corporation, Henry Ozog was a consultant with Arthur D. Little, Inc. for 21 years, where he managed the process safety consulting business. He also worked for seven years at the DuPont Company as a process and startup engineer.

Mr. Ozog is an expert in process safety and risk management, process hazard analysis (HAZOP, FMEA, FTA), and process safety auditing. He has helped numerous companies and governmental agencies identify process risks and implement cost effective mitigation measures. He teaches courses in each of these areas and is also an instructor for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Educational Services.

Mr. Ozog has a B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and serves on various sub-committees for them.

Daniel Nguyen

P.E., Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Prior to joining ioMosaic, Daniel Nguyen was a manager in the Safety and Risk Management division at Arthur D. Little, Inc., where he conducted a wide-range of process safety and risk management activities.

Mr. Nguyen was instrumental in the initial creation and management of ioMosaic’s initial product development. He now oversees all technology processes and manages all future integration advances for all aspects of our process safety products. Mr. Nguyen currently leads the strategic business development and growth efforts for ioMosaic’s Process Safety Management services.

He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering both from Tufts University. He is also a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Boston Chapter and the DIERS Users Group.

Neil Prophet

Senior Partner

Prior to joining ioMosaic, Neil Prophet worked for both Det Norske Veritas and Berwanger, Inc. He has over 14 years of experience in the field of process safety and his roles in the process safety field have included consulting, technical support, technical sales, training, project management and operations management.

Mr. Prophet has presented over 50 training courses and seminars covering consequence analysis and risk analysis software to both operating and consulting companies around the world.

Mr. Prophet holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Energy Systems and the Environment and a B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering, both from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland.

Catalin Petrescu

General Manager

Mr. Petrescu brings to ioMosaic over 17 years of engineering leadership experience in the oil and gas, food processing, water and wastewater, and manufacturing sectors. He focuses on structure, quality of output, consistency across a team and on development on tools and processes to support effective communication and efficient collaboration across business functions. Mr. Petrescu has been managing both direct and remote global teams of senior and junior engineers, project managers, and design and service supervisors from the USA, India, Brazil, and China.

He is proficient with process instrumentation, pumps, valves and controls for processing equipment. Mr. Petrescu has deployed and monitored the effective use of risk management tools in the regulated industry of food processing, from design verification to design validation and post commissioning safety assessments. He is proficient with specific tools used in combination with an overall project risk tool, such as Equipment and Operator Safety Assessment, Explosion and Fire Risk Assessment, Hygienic Risk Assessment, HAZOP, and others. Mr. Petrescu learned about refinery processes, technologies and equipment (i.e. distillation columns) and applied knowledge with M-I Romania (now part of Schlumberger) during 1992-1995. He worked in close collaboration with Fike, a supplier of safety equipment for processing industry for explosion prevention, isolation and suppression. Recent project work includes explosion safety zoning diagram and joint development of standard offerings for safety equipment to food processing clients observing recent changes in the NFPA 652.

Mr. Petrescu holds an MBA in International Business Management, Consulting from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering for Oil and Gas, graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning a maximum score for thesis project (10 out of 10). He holds a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Equipment for Chemical and Petrochemical Processing and Storage from the University of Ploiesti. He also has had formal training by Dekra-Process Safety in hazard identification, DHA, lab testing, safety performance based design.

Elena Prats

CPSP, Partner

Prior to joining ioMosaic, Ms. Prats was a process engineer and manufacturing and pilot plant manager at TOTAL Petrochemicals. She has over 10 years of experience in the field of process safety including plant operations, training, writing operational procedures, implementing management of change (MOC) and incident investigation.  As a process safety management (PSM) leader, her experience also includes leading and managing various aspects of PSM including audits, process hazard analyses (PHAs), facility siting studies and quantitative risk analyses.

Ms. Prats has presented several training courses and seminars covering polysterene manufacturing, process hazard analysis and process safety culture, to both operating and consulting companies in Europe and North America. She has also co-authored publications on various process safety related topics.

Ms. Prats holds an Executive Masters in Operations and Supply Chain Management from Escuela de Alta Dirección y Administractión; a Master Thesis - Hydrogels Development for Medical Solutions Applications from Institut Químic de Sarriá (IQS); and a University Degree, Chemical Engineering from Institut Químic de Sarriá (IQS), Universitat Ramon Llull. Ms. Prats is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the DIERS users group.  She is also fluent in French and bilingual in Spanish and Catalan.

Sam Al-Awar

Senior Partner

Prior to joining ioMosaic, Sam Alawar served as a Business Development & Expansion Director for Boston Medical Group in the US and Bahrain, where he was responsible for building and maintaining business relationships with existing clients as well as new prospects. He was also instrumental in developing and implementing strategies to expand market share.

Mr. Alawar manages our Bahrain office and all aspects of building our office and clientele for the Middle East, focusing on all major oil, gas and petrochemical facilities.

Mr. Alawar holds a B.S. in Computer & Information Science from the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) and Berkeley (UCB), with an Associate Degree in General Engineering from Mission College, Santa Clara, California.
