Join us from Tuesday, September 15, through Thursday, September 17, 2026, for this virtual live instructor-led course and and learn advanced techniques using Process Safety Office® SuperChems®. This is a powerful software tool that overcomes the shortcomings of simple relief design techniques, and integrates consequence and risk analysis, chemical reactivity management, and relief and flare systems evaluation and design. This course will go beyond the basics and will share overviews of some of the advanced features.
SuperChems® has the ability to check the stability of a relief device with more sophisticated tools than the typical 3% inlet pressure rule. This training will cover the force balance tool, which can make a more accurate assessment of the relief valve performance during a relieving event, which can help avoid unnecessary mitigation.
Dynamic reactive systems are notoriously difficult to model. SuperChems® has tools to help with this modeling, including dynamic vessel models, reaction objects that incorporate reaction kinetics into these models, and even the ability to create custom compounds. This course will lay the foundation on how to use these powerful tools to model complex reactive chemistry.
Some flare systems are more complicated than simply gathering all flows into one flare, but instead may include crossovers, multiple flare destinations, and other complex configurations. This training will explore the tools within SuperChems® to model even the most complicated flare header arrangements.
All this calculation power is great, but what is it worth if the results can’t be communicated? Fortunately, SuperChems® includes features that allow results to be reported in an organized manner, and this course will run through how to structure the file and generate a report that clearly presents the results and can drive action to mitigate deficiencies.
This course is facilitated by Matthew LeVere, PE, Adam Habshey, and Jay Lin, PE, who are skilled in performing PRFS evaluation and chemical reaction evaluation projects for clients in the chemical and petrochemical industries.
