Remote Learning Successes: Demonstrating the Effectiveness of PSL

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace. Many OSHA standards include explicit safety and health training requirements to ensure that workers have the required skills and knowledge to safely do their work, therefore employee training programs are a key element of company safety. Until 2020, in-person classroom training was the most common form of employee training. The global pandemic crisis forced organizations to change their strategy.

This publication presents a case study on switching a process safety training plan from the classroom to remote learning solution for a multinational chemical company. The original training plan was comprised of an Incident Investigation course to teach learners how to mitigate an incident, find the root cause and address it through implementation of Management of Change (MOC). Learning was to be reinforced using group and individual workshops. ioMosaic helped the organization make a smooth and successful transition to online training using our Process Safety Learning® easy-to-use learning management system. The new plan included Process Hazard Analysis Leader training, Incident Investigation training, and Process Safety Management Essentials training available in English and Spanish.
